It may be true that Mr Change has been occupied by other priorities but even then I don't think anyone will ever care about legal aliens who pays Taxes every year. US won't get anything if they issue GCs to us. Remember they have to tackle unemployment in US if they issue GCs to every H1/L1. Looks like the header of that thread is misleading...though its a good news for those suffering because CIS error, it can mislead some IV visitors that issue is over. Unfortunately this is not the case, though it is some what relief to know that MTR are successful. However in first place, an applicant should not have to go through this HORROR. I wish CIS comes out and accept this error and make sure that this is not repeated again in future.

I just registered for IV. I wish I could come to DC rally on 18th. But due to certain unavoidable circumstances I may not be able too. Though not an excuse But I feel very guilty about it and this guilt will always remain there that I was not part of rally on 18th. I don't know much about the process, I just came to America less than 1 year back, but I know my lawyer was supposed to mail application to reach on July 2, 2007 instead he made a mistake to reach on June 29, 2007 because he said July 1, 2007 was a Sunday so he would rather be early than late. USCIS accepted and receipted me.
I am the manager in my brother's gas station in LA. He got a investor visa when he came from Punjab but now he is citizen. I am on EB3. I have Bachelors in Business Administration from Panjab University in Chandigarh. I can't be EB1 or EB2, I barely made it through college :D

The calculations below is not to scare anyone but it may very well a reality. Based on the assumptions below, some people may have to wait up to 20 months to get a EAD card: Ouch!
A Total I-485 Applicants: 750000 Applicants
B Each EAD processing time: 5 Minutes
C Total processing hrs: 62500 Hours
(Calculations: AxB/60)
D Daily productive Hours: 5 Hours
(It is a government body!)
E Total Man Days (Business Days): 12500 Man Days

We are 6th year H1B, but we only have a PD date of 27th July 2006.
My son turns 21 on 13th January 2008. We have an I-140 pending since August 30th 2006, which is probably a good thing because I understand that it will help to "extend" my son's time, provided it is not denied. There is no valid reason why it should be, and we have not taken up Premium Processing for that very reason.
However, with this July Visa Bulletin fiasco, who knows how long it will be before our PD date will come up again (EB-3 ROW) and we can file the I-485
Thus, I am really interested in the outcome of your case and the CSPA draft you have come up with. I have registered with Expat's Voice, as per your request.

Have you given a thought or spoken to a lawyer about starting EB2 PERM when your EB3 140 is pending? After your EB2 PERM is approved, you have 6 months before interfiling your EB2 140 with your EB3 PD. I think that is long enough for your EB3 140 too be approved.
AFAIK, this can be done with little or no risk to your EB3.

Between July & August do you think it will cross 1.5 years taking all of 2006 & half of 2007 applications? Considering VdlRao's data which is 70K applications pending for 2006 I am not sure it will work thought I am still hopeful that 2005 will pass quickly since there are few PERM applications.

The following are the reason for Eb3 situation.
Anyone who have 3 year or 4 year degree can apply. So Other country also there is a demand. So it is nearly impossible to get other country quota. For a few thousand green cards atleast 100k persons might have applied till 2008 in EB3. So there is not much chance for improvement. It may move a few months to 2 years in 2009.If some bill is passed then most persons will get relief. But still some chances for recapture bill in house. But the reaction at Senate to be seen. Next year they may give a best attempt for CIR so that Congressmen will get a chance to do overtime also for hot news in Media. As usual CIR is unpredictable at best.
EB3 does not require a 4 year degree. It consists of people helping in cooking, full time baby sitters from third world countries, helpers in grocery stores, farm workers, nurses, etc as well. This is why the participation of EB3 folks here is very less and IV attracts only the technical work force. I would suggest a mass campaign to attract this crowd as well to IV for support. Even if they are brought, due to the low wage rate I do not think how much of contribution that will result for IV.
This is my observation so far.

You people seem to be too nationalistic. Even with the comments about quotas. Affiirmative action with 52% of all seats being reserved based on caste? You call this fair?
I dont think anyone is arguing that american schools are not good enough.......they certainly are - specially with the kind of tuition fees people pay to get into these schools. Besides - people coming here for education does not necessarily mean its better - lot of people come here for the international exposure - lot of good students from around the world do indeed congregate here for education - combination of good schools, openness, english as common language....all these have contributed to the historical greatness of america - does not make your motherland any worse!
Look at quotas as a way to bring in factors other than just your score in a standardized examination.......in India that factor might be caste - here it might be affirmative action in favor of some sections of society and other subjective factors like essays, letters recommendation, the fact that you were a cheerleader in high school etc.....look, i am not saying quotas is a great system - but all i am saying is that there are shortcomings in selection systems in schools around the world not just India.
